ENSREG (European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group)
The European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group (ENSREG) was established in 2007. It is an independent expert group at the European Commission, consisting of high-level representatives of the independent nuclear regulators of the European Union member states. The Council of the EU, IAEA, the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency, WENRA, Belarus, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey have observer status. The purpose of ENSREG is coordination between Member States in order to assist the European Commission on:
- the safety of nuclear installations in the European Union;
- the safety in the management of spent fuel and radioactive waste;
- financing the decommissioning of nuclear installations in the European Union.
