WWER Forum
The WWER Forum is an association of the regulatory bodies of the countries operating Pressurised Water Reactors (PWR).The aim of the forum is to promote greater safety and radiation protection in the Member States by using the collective experience, sharing information and joint efforts of national regulatory authorities to address safety issues and improve the policies and practices of regulatory activities.Currently, the members of the forum are the Chairmen of the regulatory bodies of Armenia, Bulgaria, India, Iran, China, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary, Finland and the Czech Republic.
Representatives of Germany, Egypt, the IAEA and Belarus attend the forum as observers.The WWER Forum was established in 1993 and operates under a memorandum signed in 1998. It is convened once a year, hosted by one of the member states.
The heads of the regulatory bodies of the member states participate in the annual meetings at which the heads of delegations present information on the issues of regulation of nuclear and radiation safety in their countries.According to the memorandum, working groups are being set up at the Forum to discuss topics of mutual interest. The current working groups are:
- Working group on the application of PSA methods in regulatory activities;
- Reactor Aging Working Group;
- Reactor Physics Analysis Working Group.
