Mission

The Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Agency is an independent specialized authority of the executive power that implements the state regulation of the safe use of nuclear energy and ionizing radiation and the safe management of radioactive waste and spent fuel and has competencies defined by the Act on the Safe Use of Nuclear Energy (ASUNE).

The Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NRA) is an administration that assists the Chairman of the Agency in exercising his powers. The NRA is a budget-supported legal entity based in Sofia. The Agency carries out its activities in accordance with the laws and regulations in the Republic of Bulgaria.The main mission of the NRA is to protect everyone, society, future generations and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation.
