Nuclear facilities

This section contains general information about the nuclear facilities present on the territory of Republic of Bulgaria and defined within the meaning of the Act on the Safe Use of Nuclear Energy (ASUNE). According to the act’s definition, nuclear facility is a facility and its associated land, buildings and equipment, in which radioactive material is obtained, produced, processed, used, handled, stored or entombed on such a scale that consideration of nuclear safety and radiation protection is required. Any radioactive waste management facility is qualified as “nuclear facility.”
